Company
Profile
FLUVIUS
is the label for our international consultancy in the field of Floodplain
Ecology and River Basin Management. The firm holds a business licence
for "Consultant Engineers in the field of Geographie"
in Austria.
From
the landscape ecological perspective, the base sciences to
understand floodplain, wetland and river ecosystems with
their catchment are hydrology, fluvial-morphology, pedology
and geo-botany. For the planning aspects and the river basin management, engineering science such as water management and river hydraulics, spatial planning and nature conservation are from great importance. Remote sensing applications and
GIS technologies support surveys, field evaluations and the
most processing and analysis operations. In this sense Geographical
Information Systems are the main tool to facilitate interdisciplinary
work. Next to the technical application of such a system the collaboration
and integration of the different sciences and stakeholders is a key
need and is offered particularly by our company. Since 1995, we could build up experience by working in Central
and Eastern Europe (next to Germany and Austria in Hungary, Slovakia,
Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria,
Montenegro and Albania). Today we are usually working in international
teams, commissioned by international clients (e.g. EU, UNDP, World Bank/GEF).
